Coronavirus in Argentina: 66 new deaths and another 4,518 cases reported in the last 24 hours

On the day that the gradual reopening of the quarantine in the Metropolitan Area was announced, the Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed this Friday another 66 deaths and 4,518 new cases of coronavirus, the majority in the Province of Buenos Aires.

In the morning, the health portfolio reported the death of 21 people: 14 men and 7 women, with ages ranging from 32 to 89 years. Ten of the victims had residence in the Province, ten in the Federal Capital and one in Córdoba.

The mortality rate is 46.5 people per million inhabitants and the case fatality rate of 1.8% on confirmed cases.

According to official information, on Thursday 11,053 new samples were made and from the start of the outbreak 519,281 diagnostic tests were carried out for this disease, which is equivalent to 11,443.8 samples per million inhabitants.

To date, the total number of people registered is 49,780 people.

At the head of the daily report issued by the health authority, the Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti, announced that the "epidemiological link" of cases reported in recent hours in various provinces is being investigated, so, in the case If their origin is not found, they would lead to the declaration of new areas of community transmission of the virus.

"If it is not found (the link that connects the case with the source of contagion) that is where community transmission is defined," he said.

On the other hand, the official provided details on how the territorial approach continues to be "scaled up" for the early detection of suspected cases: on July 1 in the city and province of Buenos Aires there were 4,004 people working on the Detect device and 15 days later they were 6,460.

These are doctors, nurses, volunteers from the health system and universities, personnel from the different state spheres, 1,700 of them distributed in the City of Buenos Aires and 4,760 in the province.
