(ANSA) - TEHERAN, JULY 29 - The Iranian Revolutionary Guards attacked with rockets and drones a replica of the American aircraft carrier of the Nimitz class, complete with fake jetschichiati on the bridge, which in recent days had positioned in view of this exercise in the waters of the strategic Strait of Hormuz , at the mouth of the Gulf. Tehran's television broadcast pictures of the operation, in which rockets fired from some trucks and another fired from a helicopter are seen. In the attack the hull and the sides of the fake aircraft carrier were damaged.
The US Navy reacted to the initiative of the Iranian elite troops as "irresponsible and reckless". The Revolutionary Guards launched several missile missiles during exercises jointly launched by their naval and aerospace forces in the southern province of Hormozgan, in the waters of the Persian Gulf and west of the Strait of Hormuz. The missiles, Tehran media reported, were also launched from underground locations.
Among the successful launches were the Hormoz and Fatih surface to ground missiles. The maneuvers, renamed with the code name 'Great Prophet-14', are monitored for the first time by the military satellite Noor-1, launched in orbit last April 22. Other simulations have involved Sukhoi Su-22 bomb attackers. (HANDLE).
