Beaches still in crisis, crowds only on weekends

NUORO - Even in July beaches with a good turnout but only on weekends, while on weekdays they remained desolately empty. It emerges from the surveys of the Italian Seaside Trade Union which adheres to Fipe Confcommercio and associates more than 10 thousand beach businesses. The most noticeable drops are recorded in Sardinia (-70% of presences compared to the same period of 2019), Campania, Calabria, Sicily and Veneto (-40%).
    "Most of the Italians are rediscovering the beauty of the national coasts near their places of residence - says the president of the Bb Antonio Capacchione - but foreigners are missing, so much so that several tourist resorts have been more penalized. We are optimistic for the month of August, which has always been chosen by most Italians for the holidays even if we are already aware that the tourism-seaside sector of 2020 compared to last year, unfortunately, will not reach the '+' sign in any of our regions ".
