Sources of the Government's Scientific Technical Committee: 'We opposed, decision taken without our opinion'. Lombardy: 100% of seats on public transport (ANSA)

From today, Trenitalia's Frecciargento and Frecciarossa long-distance trains and Italo trains can travel at 100% of the seats. From today, in fact, according to what has been learned, the conditions set by the dpcm of 14 July have been fulfilled. The provision in fact provided for the possibility to make trains travel at full capacity provided that in the presence of some conditions: among these, the measurement of temperatures before the journey; the self-declaration of passengers certifying that they have not had contact with people infected by Covid; the obligation of the mask with the replacement after 4 hours. The situation, however, could change in the next few hours in light of the new indications that will be published in the latest dpcm.

The possibility of high-speed trains returning to travel at 100% of the available seats is "very concerned". This is what sources of the Government's Scientific Technical Committee say, stressing that the decision was taken "without having received the opinion of the Committee".

According to what has been learned, a request for evaluation of the new plan of high-speed trains was sent by MIT yesterday morning, but no mention was made of the meeting held in the afternoon. The issue is on the agenda of the meeting scheduled for next Thursday: and this will be an opportunity, the sources still underline, to express a "decisive opposition" to the choice made.

In Lombardy, the number of people who will be able to board public transport , i.e. trains, buses, trams and metros, increases. In the new order of the Lombardy Region relating to the rules against the spread of coronavirus in force from tomorrow to 10 September, there are news regarding access to public transport where it is always mandatory to wear a mask or suitable clothing to cover the nose and mouth. 100% of the seats and 50% of the standing seats are allowed for the public transport systems of local long-distance public transport; the same for metropolitan vehicles, urban buses and trams and for trains used for regional public transport rail services.
