 - The "Adopt a pistachio" campaign to recover and rebuild an ancient Sicilian pistachio starts on August 1st. To propose it, with the crowdfunding project called Fustup, are the brothers of Pasticceria Bonfissuto of Canicattì (Agrigento), Vincenzo and Giuliano Bonfissuto. The name of the project - explains a note - takes up an Arabic term, later assimilated by the Sicilian dialect with the word "fastuca" indicating green gold, pistachio. The initiative concerns an autochthonous species in a state of neglect found by the Bonfissuto brothers and the goal is to plant the first 70 pistachio plants with the aim of making "one of their most iconic desserts, the pistachio panettone, zero kilometer and completely self-sufficient in cultivation and production. " The recovery and reconstruction activity can be supported through the Kickstarter.com platform at the link https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bonfissuto/fustuq-adottaunp istacchio. The participation modalities are over ten and range from free donation, to a minimum of 30 euros to receive at home, and all over the world, the Bonfissuto pistachio leavened up to 1000 euros to adopt a maximum of 70 pistachio plants with the name of the donor for each tree engraved on a plate. There will also be a gift of 12 panettone and a day of experience in the company including overnight stay and tastings and typical meals together with the Bonfissuto brothers. Those who adopt the 70 pistachios will be able to watch their tree remotely, with the possibility of giving it a name. Information on growth, flowering, harvest and transformation (ANSA) will be released.
