Chassé-croisé: already traffic jams on the road to holiday departures

The traffic is already very dense on several sections, in particular on the A10 in the South-West and on the A7 towards the Mediterranean.


This Saturday of the traditional weekend of crossover between July and Augustians on the road had been classified black in the direction of departures by Bison smart. And many motorists are already stuck in traffic jams on the road to vacation, early in the morning.

From Lyon to Orange, at 10 am, instead of the usual hour and a half, motorists have to take their troubles patiently for nearly five hours, reports Vinci Autoroute for example. On the other hand, traffic is fluid in the opposite direction on this same route.

Between the Saint-Arnoult and Poitiers toll booth, on the A10, you have to drive for 3h30 instead of 2h30 in normal times.

Peak at 955 km of traffic jams on July 11

Due to the very hot weather expected this Saturday, especially in the center-east of the country, many motorists may have been tempted to get behind the wheel early this Saturday morning, or even in the middle of the night. 13 departments have been placed on orange heat wave alert by Météo France.

Last Saturday, the day was classified red and 621 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams had been identified at the height of the day. We were very far from the peak of 955 km of traffic jams observed a fortnight earlier, on July 11. We will know at midday if the maximum reached this Saturday is higher.
