From Monday, anyone over 11 years old will have to wear a mask in public places, including outdoors, in 69 municipalities in Mayenne. The measure does not apply to sports activities.
Until now, this obligation concerned the city centers of Laval, Mayenne, Evron, Château-Gontier as well as certain markets, recalls France Bleu Mayenne. A new prefectural decree, taken this Saturday, extends this duty to all of Laval Agglomeration, Mayenne, Evron, Craon, Renazé, the community of communes of the Pays de Château-Gontier and that of Ernée.
"Active nature of the spread of the virus"
The prefect justifies his decision by “the epidemiological situation in the department” and the “active nature of the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus”. He added that the screening campaign organized in Mayenne "shows an incidence rate of cases tested positive which remains at a level above 110 per 100,000 inhabitants as of July 30, 2020".
In addition, "new clusters have been identified in recent weeks," recalls the prefect of Mayenne, Jean-Francis Treffel.
