Haaretz journalist Ariana Melamed received a threat of gang rape on Twitter. Melamed filed a complaint with the police and responded to the attacker: "Do not scare me and do not silence me."

Melamed has repeatedly spoken out against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and even participated in one of the recent left-wing demonstrations. Her tweet on the political issue angered many surfers, but this time, programmer Twitter programmer Avner Tzipori (it is not clear if this is his real name) tweeted: "I heard that gang rape is being organized for Ariana Melamed ... want to come?". After several hours the account in question is deleted from Twitter.

Melamed filed a complaint with the police, tweeting in response on her Twitter account: "I just saw it. For the information of the scumbag who tweeted: Do not scare me and do not silence me with threats of a poor pornographer. I was a rape victim at the age of 14. No poor soul like you can. "There is no forgiveness and no disregard for verbal sexual harassment which is a criminal offense. The help of decent women and men is needed here."
