2020-08-01T07:01:16.426Z

The sales started two weeks ago but you haven't found your happiness yet? Don't panic, the third markdown is coming

The sales are in full swing! If this year, they started on July 15 with several weeks delay, confinement requires, the traders were of course all at the rendezvous. Amazon, Darty, Cdiscount and La Fnac have rocked the labels to appeal to as many consumers as possible. In one, we can see 500 euros discount on a laptop PC, in the other a brand watch is displayed at -56% and in a third it is a video game that benefits from a second markdown for sales and goes to less than eight euros. What to have fun without counting too much. But e-merchants, like physical stores, aren't going to stop there during sales. Some have already drawn the famous third markdown which allows them to take advantage of even greater discounts, up to 80%, on all departments. Also, whether you are looking for a smartphone, a deckchair for the garden or a nice jacket for the start of the school year, now is the time not to miss anything and without fear of straining your summer budget. thanks to the sales!

What is the end date of the sales?

This year, for the first time, the sales will last only four weeks in compliance with article 16 of the law relating to the growth and transformation of businesses, known as the Pacte law, adopted in May 2019. They began on the 15th. July and will end on August 11 in all departments of mainland France as well as in Guyana and Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Four metropolitan departments (the Pyrénées-Orientales, the Alpes-Maritimes and the two departments of Corsica) previously benefited from derogatory dates but this was not the case this year. In Mayotte, the sales took place in July and ended on the 21st. In Guadeloupe and Martinique, the summer sales will take place later: September 26 to October 23 and October 1 to 28, 2020 respectively.

What are the differences between Amazon sales and Prime day?

While sales and Prime Days are both business events, each has its own specificities. In France, sales respect strict rules established by the Commercial Code that all merchants, online or physical, must absolutely follow, otherwise they may be severely sanctioned. Overall, the sales are used to sell at broken prices (or even at a loss) the previous collections of traders and therefore allow them to update their stocks. Display standards are also imposed on them (starting price indicated next to the sale price ...) and the distinction between sale and open items must be clear for consumers.

Prime Day is an event created in 2015 by Amazon for subscribers to its loyalty program, Amazon Prime. It is not subject to the same rules. To begin with, the online merchant should not use the word “sales”. So there are discounts, rebates, promotions and other business. Furthermore, it has no legally fixed duration. In general, Prime Day takes place over two days in mid-July, but this year the American giant has decided to postpone the event because of the crisis linked to the coronavirus. It will probably take place during the month of August. To benefit from this promotional day, you must subscribe to the Prime service. When you register, you benefit from a free 30-day trial period and access to other Amazon services (video, music, games, ebooks, etc.). Then the program costs 5.99 euros per month or 49 euros per year. But you can cancel the subscription before the end of the 30 free days if it does not suit you.
