VIDEO. Fire in Anglet: "We were surrounded by fire, it was a nightmare"

“It was burning, we were surrounded by fire, it was a nightmare. In Anglet, the inhabitants who can return home less than 48 hours after the spectacular fire which burned 165 ha, are still in shock. “Even the tree behind the house caught fire, even the palm tree, also caught fire, so if the wall hadn't stopped, I think the whole neighborhood was leaving,” explains Monique, a resident of Anglet.

According to the municipality of Anglet, 24 homes were affected by the flames, including five that were destroyed. The Bayonne public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to determine the still unknown causes of the fire.
