Support networks that cannot afford to stop

2020-08-02T23:07:17.408Z

Banco Sabadell has joined the effort of all Mexicans to attend to the health emergency from various fronts and help the economic recovery

Banco Sabadell has allocated more than a million pesos to combat the effects of COVID-19. The bank's strategy for granting these grants focused on donation programs and actions for economic recovery, from the facilities provided to companies and corporations (who are one of the engines of the economy) to support for hospitals and farmers, as well as people from vulnerable groups including cancer patients and older adults.

Support for groups living in adverse situations must not stop, especially at times like the one we live in.

The Covid-19 pandemic has put civil society organizations in a vulnerable position because their operating costs have risen and donations have decreased.

An example of this is Fundación Quiera, which cares for children and young people in vulnerable situations and is sponsored by the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), which had to launch the “We can't stop” campaign, an initiative that calls for Mexican society in order to procure resources so that 17 organizations in its network can face the crisis.

Banco Sabadell was part of those who answered the call and their support consisted of helping to counter needs such as: salaries for employees, equipment, infrastructure and food. "We join #NoPodemosParar where, with the support of more banks, we seek to contribute and cover the needs of the season for these organizations," announced the banking institution.

Fundación Quiera has been on Banco Sabadell's social commitment radar for more than three years, during which time the bank has also supported it by volunteering the people who make up the institution.

United against everything

“Being where you are is not just a motto for us. It is our reason for being and for this reason we have made efforts from different fronts to give our support to Mexican society. We are clear that unity and solidarity are key at the moment, "says Vanesa Robles, CMO of Banco Sabadell.

In this sense, low-income families who live and live with cancer require special attention. For this reason, Banco Sabadell joined forces with the civil association Before Departing to provide help with health care services, palliative care and psychological and economic assistance. Working as a team, 270 families with terminally ill cancer patients were supported.

Medical needs during the most critical stages of the contingency skyrocketed in every way, and the first battlefront against the pandemic was health institutions.

Understanding that the deficiencies were increasing, Banco Sabadell joined the ABC Medical Center Foundation to support the COVID-19 Unit, which converted the Observatory Campus with protective equipment, beds, respirators, and diagnostic equipment, among other resources.

Towards economic recovery

Another of the most vulnerable sectors in the face of the pandemic are workers who earn their income through the sale of products or the provision of direct services, such as transporters and farmers, who face enormous difficulties in bringing daily sustenance home when their clients, we are protected in ours.

Faced with the choice of how to help them, Banco Sabadell joined CanastaXMéxico, an initiative that seeks to reactivate the economy of farmers, transporters and producers through the sale of organic fruit and vegetable baskets, seeking to contribute to the goal of 180,000 pantries a week, and thereby help 16,840 families.

In these days of uncertainty and reactivation, we must all support in our closest environment, because #NoPodemosParar, let's walk together.
