The Government made official on Sunday the extension of the quarantine ordered by the coronavirus pandemic until August 16 inclusive, and the decree ordered that social and family gatherings are prohibited throughout Argentina. But in Corrientes they rebelled and announced that they will not abide by this last measure.
According to the local newspaper El Litoral, the province's Secretary General, Carlos Vignolo, confirmed that "there is no reason for Corrientes to change."
With these words, he made it clear that the province will not abide by the decree of President Alberto Fernández , which prohibits social gatherings. "We are fine, in a good health situation, without community viral circulation, so there is no reason to suspend social and family gatherings," Vignolo said in radio statements.
According to the official, the interpretation of the Decree of Necessity and Urgency, which Fernández signed on Sunday, allows the province to maintain its current status, without any change. "The same national norm leaves some exceptions safe, among which Corrientes founds the decision not to prohibit social gatherings," he continued.
Despite this, he clarified that "parties were never allowed." "Only family gatherings, with friends and up to a maximum of 10 people. We cannot relax. We have to control ourselves," concluded Vignolo.
According to the Corrientes health norm, social or family gatherings are allowed from Thursday to Sunday and only until 1 in the morning.
Minister of Health of the Nation, Ginés González García , main emphasis made on Sunday that the new coronavirus outbreaks in the country have "almost always" source at a social gathering.
"When we started investigating the outbreaks, the origin was always, or almost always, a family gathering, or of young people or a guard in a hospital to drink mate. The meetings have an impact and magnitude. That is why the President's emphasis is" González García said.
