(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, AUG 03 - By depositing new documents to urge Donald Trump to hand over the personal and corporate tax returns of the past eight years, the Manhattan prosecutor's office has hinted that he is investigating the president and his company for a possible eas-insurance banking fraud. The New York Times writes it. Attorney's office Cyrus Vance did not directly identify the focus of the investigation but wrote that last year's "undisputed" news releases clarify that the prosecutor's office has a legal basis to ask for those documents. For the tycoon it will be another battle against time, to avoid handing over the documents before the elections. A battle in which he also has less time than expected to close the gap with his rival Joe Biden, who on average in RealClearPolitics surveys exceeds it by 7.4 points nationally (49.4% to 42%) and has a margin of safety in almost all States hovering. In fact, if there are still 92 days left for the election day, the tycoon has less than a month and a half to try and come back because the electors of some key 'swing states' will begin to receive the ballots to vote by mail or in advance. And this year is expected to increase the vote for correspondence due to the pandemic, in addition to a lower number of undecided who decide in the last days of the campaign.
The first state to send the ballots will be North Carolina on September 4, that is in a month. (HANDLE).
