Amid the growth of coronavirus cases in the country, San Juan, Catamarca and Santiago del Estero could become the first provinces in which the face-to-face classes return to schools in the coming weeks.

As confirmed this Monday by Nicolás Trotta, Minister of Education of the Nation, some "10,500 students from 14 of the 19 departments of San Juan " will return to classrooms on Monday, August 10, with "protocols and a dual system in which they will be some days at school and others at home. "

In Catamarca and Santiago del Estero, meanwhile, the expected return date is August 18, although in the entire province : "Today (Monday) the directors, assistants and teachers of the last years of primary and secondary are already beginning. In these two weeks, the readjustment of the schools to comply with the protocols and the pedagogical reorganization will be advanced. If the epidemiological situation continues (that there is not an explosion of cases), on August 18 the students of the last primary and secondary years. "

In dialogue with radio El Destape , Trotta detailed what the protocols consist of to ensure social distancing. He explained that "everyone has resolved the division of the classrooms, because to attend all the courses every day, the infrastructure would have to be duplicated."

So, he added, it was decided to establish "a meter and a half as a floor distance between the students . " Thus, in a classroom where 30 students entered, now 10 or 15 will do so.

"This implies making weekly groups. We are beginning to reconstruct the space and recreate the teacher's bond with the students," he added, while confirming that the protocol "was agreed with most of the teachers' unions."

Asked about the situation of the classes in the AMBA, the official affirmed that "until there is a substantial modification of the level of circulation of the COVID-19, it is impossible to project the return ."

"Today there is no date. The return has to be as it happened in other provinces. School is not the first thing that comes back. First, it is necessary to achieve normality in other areas and that this does not have an epidemiological impact. Viruses are imperceptible and it may be late when they are detected. That happened in some provinces, such as Chaco, "he warned.

Finally, Trotta said that despite usually passing the disease without complications, "boys do transmit it."

And he closed: "We talked with specialists from European countries and at times there is contradictory information. So we have to unfold a scenario taking into account the worst analyzes . That is why each return is taken care of."
