(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 04 - Three sailors from Micronesia, shipwrecked on an island lost in the western Pacific, were rescued thanks to the huge 'Sos' writing they had made on the sand. The BBC reports it.
The men, missing for three days after the 7-meter boat on which they were traveling had run out of fuel, were found on the Pikelot island by a helicopter of the Australian Navy. They are all in good condition and have not suffered any injuries. They had left Pulawat atoll and had to travel 42 kilometers to Pulap atoll, but they never reached their destination. Saturday were leaving lericerche from Guam, then an Australian helicopter took off from an aircraft carrier and headed for Hawaii for exercises. He wrote the large inscription on the sand and was immediately rescued by sailors with water and food. Now they will be brought home by a micronesia patrolman. (HANDLE).
