Istat, the monthly increase follows the exceptional rise in May. On an annual basis, the drop is over 13 points. Growth in all economic sectors except for the pharmaceutical sector which fell slightly after the jump in the lockdown. Auto sector surge, +36.8 over May (ANSA)

Industrial production in June rose 8.2% compared to May . Istat points out, explaining that the monthly increase "follows the exceptional one recorded in May (+ 41.6%), after the collapse due to the Covid-19 emergency".
On an annual basis, however, the minus sign remains: the index decreases by 13.7% ( correct for calendar effects). "Although recovering, production levels are still far from those prevailing before the measures related to the health emergency; compared to January, production was lower, net of seasonal factors, by more than 13 percentage points". So Istat in commenting on June data on industrial activity.

In June, all economic sectors were growing cyclically, with the exception of that of the production of pharmaceutical products, in a "slight" decline (-1.5%) after holding up during the months of the lockdown.  In particular, there have been surges in the sectors that suffered the most from the repercussions of the emergency due to the pandemic: from the production of means of transport (+ 27.6%) to textiles-clothing (+ 17.3%), passing through metallurgy (+ 10.8%). The trend picture is substantially reversed: on an annual basis, the only sector showing an increase is that of extractive activities (+ 1.5%). The biggest declines, on the other hand, concern textiles and clothing (-26.7%) and means of transport (-26.4%).

Automotive production in June rose 36.8% over May . Istat points out, the drop remains large on an annual basis: -39.8% (corrected for calendar effects).
