In the two weeks that have passed since my appointment, I have been trying to reduce morbidity without charging too heavy a price from the public • Rationale: Instead of closing from above - order from below • Meaning: Each group must contribute its share • And from the protesters I ask: , In a special article

About two weeks ago, I took on the responsibility of managing Corona's morbidity reduction in Israel. This was after many good people warned me that Israelis would not cooperate, that politicians would not let work and that I should demand written powers.

Happily, these warnings have been disproved, and I find myself enjoying the full cooperation of all parties. But first and foremost, I am proud of the participation and responsiveness of the citizens.

For the past two weeks I have been trying my best to lead a line of lowering the infection coefficient below 1 and reducing morbidity without closure. It is important to say - no country has acted against such a burden of disease without closure. Not even Sweden, where the peak of cases is less than an average day with us in the last month, and where the price of mortality was heavy.

You have succeeded by keeping the rules to stabilize around 2,000-1,500 patients a day, but to reduce the number of patients to hundreds of patients a day requires more effort. Without all of us making this effort, it will not happen.

The move to lower the number of patients is expected to take several weeks and prevent closure, but requires a corona routine while keeping us all on the rules. I strive against all odds to reduce morbidity without closure, while encouraging citizen cooperation and increasing trust; While combining the IDF's amazing capabilities with training thousands of people to conduct rapid, in-depth and advanced epidemiological investigations; while targeting cities with high morbidity (instead of shutting them down) and helping them get out of there quickly; Police and local authority. The

rationale that drives me is humane and simple: instead of closing from above - order from below.

More on the

Gantz directive: The Biological Institute will begin human trials to test for a corona vaccine

Gamzo: "Morbidity in Israel - the highest in the world"

Corona patient for police officers: "I'm tired at home"

USA: $ 1 billion for the vaccine

You must believe that you can succeed in this line, because only in this way will we defeat the Corona. In order to be successful, every group in the country must do its own thing, give up a little for the benefit of Israel - at the expense of what it "owes" for its own good.

The Arab sector must take control of the epidemic in Arab cities; Without hidden parties and non-compliance with the rules. When its leaders decide to hold such an event, they do it the best there is.

The ultra-Orthodox sector and its leaders, spiritual and political, must come out with a call for the cessation of mass joys while beeping on the corona, because that means the loss of human life. It may also not be the time to take a health risk in institutions in front of thousands of students coming from red countries, even in the approved isolation format, and especially to remember that we are facing the month of Elul and the terrible days. Closure in such a period involves a heavy price of Torah and mitzvos.

The general public should serve as an example of full compliance with the guidelines, and I for my part promise to continue to adapt them to logic, to all sectors, with reference to the special requests of different sectors.

And as for the burning issue of demonstrations taking place across the country: Demonstrations are the lifeblood of democracy, and any citizen who wants to go out and demonstrate is allowed to do so. But at this time the corona politely asks you to demonstrate carefully, to make sure to wear masks over your nose as well, to keep your distance according to the locations of the demonstrations. Any gathering, forbidden or permitted, has a mass contagion potential. The Corona does not know how to distinguish between a wedding and a demonstration.

Waking up

The politicians on the right and left who trust me, despite a sting here and there, must continue to make reducing the morbidity and economic recovery of the economy a top priority. Each of them must be a "projector" in his field. All the politicians I spoke to this week, including the prime minister, are reluctant to quit. They understand the socio-economic rift and the ongoing damage. But they are anxious for the continued shuffling with such a disease, for our national resilience and our status in the world, as long as our level of morbidity does not decrease.

Israelis, this is a wake-up call. This is a last chance. Let's make another little effort and defeat the corona. We deserve to return to a normal life soon.
