The former Casa del Fascio in Predappio will not be a museum of the Twenties, if anything, a less divisive 'Documentation and Studies Center on the history of the 20th century. "And the crypt where Benito Mussolini rests will hardly have a dedicated keeper to watch over its continuous opening If anything, a custody service for the entire cemetery of San Cassiano, which also contains the remains of the Duce of Fascism who, in the town of the Forlì Apennines, was born on 29 July 1883.

A week after the letter sent to the Municipality of Romagna with which Mussolini's heirs asked "to proceed with the continuous reopening of the crypt in conditions such as to ensure its full regularity and immanence over time", the mayor Roberto Canali, exponent of the center-right, does not settle the question definitively, but does not seem to make too many concessions to the Mussolini family. If on the one hand he will meet the lawyers of the heirs to take stock of the situation, probably in the last week of August, waiting to clarify the future of the crypt, he has put his hands on, specifying that he is not available to pay a dedicated guardian but, if necessary, to make the custody and protection service of the whole cemetery more complete.

On the other hand, that of the structure that houses the remains of Mussolini is a matter of no small importance, on the hills of Forlì, which has already provoked the strong opposition of Anpi and CGIL and which also involves the world of city commerce given the impact that the opening of the crypt could have on local tourism. Impact that could also be ensured by the former Casa del Fascio, which has long been at the center of reflections for its transformation into a museum on the history of the early part of the 20th century which, in the birthplace of the Head of Fascism, risks being linked to the Twenties. If in Rome the hypothesis of creating a museum of fascism advanced by three municipal councilors of the M5S was vigorously rejected by the Anpi and the political forces of the left and 'quashed' by the mayor itself, Virginia Raggi, in Predappio the mayor has changed to "International documentation center on the history of the early 1900s", the name "Documentation and studies center on the history of the 900" wanted by his center-left predecessor Giorgio Frassineti. While waiting to understand what the change introduced will operationally mean, the mayor of Predappio, as reported today also by the Bolognese edition of Repubblica, shows the desire to avoid making the center a "permanent museum for twenty years" and "a pole of controversy and divisions ", but rather" a promotional source for our territory and a proactive stimulus ". On this front, the Predappiese Administration, relying on about 3.5 million euros already financed, is committed to the recovery project of the large building of the former house of the beam which, unlike the project drawn up by the previous council, will not provide for changes to intended use of the rooms, but "the enhancement of rationalist architecture, avoiding interventions that distort its functionality".
