"The first doses of the 'made in Italy' vaccine have arrived at the Spallanzani Institute and from 24 August we are ready to experiment on humans". This was announced by the Lazio Region Councilor for Health Alessio D'Amato. "Spallanzani is completing the search for volunteers for experimentation", adds the commissioner.
The vaccine, the Lazio Region informs, has already passed preclinical tests carried out both in vitro and in vivo on animal models, "which have highlighted the strong immune response induced by the vaccine and the good safety profile".
According to what has been learned in recent days, the approval of the experimentation has come from the national ethics committee at the Spallanzani Institute in Rome, and now phase 1 of human experimentation of the Italian vaccination platform can begin, to which they collaborated the INMI and the National Research Council, which makes use of funding from the Ministry of Scientific Research and the Lazio Region and has been supported by the Ministry of Health.
