(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 08 - The authorities of the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia have placed an intervillage in isolation after the death of a resident caused by the plague: CNN reports. The death was communicated to the Baotou authorities last Sunday and confirmation of the diagnosis arrived on Thursday, the Health Commission of the Municipality of Baotou announced. The authorities isolated the village of SujiXincun, where the victim lived. Tests performed on all villagers have so far been negative. Nine people who had come into close contact with the later deceased patient and who were placed in quarantine were also negative, as well as 26 other people who had had indirect contact.
On July 8, the authorities of the same region had closed several tourist resorts following the confirmation of a case of bubonic plague in Bayannur. Five viewpoints in the neighboring prairies had been banned from visitors, along with the entire surrounding region. In November 2019, also in Inner Mongolia, there were some cases of bubonic and pulmonary pest linked to marmots or wild rabbits consumed undercooked or raw. (HANDLE).
