(ANSA) - PRAGUE, 08 AUG - Eleven people, including three children, died this afternoon in a fire that broke out in a thirteen-storey apartment building in the Eastern Czech Republic. The firefighters reported it. "We have arrested one person," Tomas Kuzel, chief of police for the northeastern region, told Czech public television, without giving further details.
"The fire broke out in an apartment on the eleventh floor" in the city of Bohumin, about 300 km east of Prague, Lukas Popp, the spokesman for the fire brigade, told AFP.
"Six people died on this floor, three children and treadults, and also a dog," he specified. Five other people, to escape the flames, jumped out of a window on the 12th floor and lost their lives.
The fire was eventually put out. Interior Minister Jan Hamacek tweeted that a firefighter was seriously injured. (HANDLE).
