It was announced as a day of galley for the departures on vacation. But this Saturday, August 8 even broke records in terms of traffic jams. Bison Futé has indeed recorded a peak of traffic jams of 820 kilometers accumulated around noon, against 760 last Saturday. Or the equivalent of a Lille-Bordeaux route!

The day had been classified black for departures and red for returns by the traffic forecasting body. To curb pollution, accentuated by the hot weather, the maximum authorized speeds had also been reduced in the Bouches-du-Rhône, and differentiated traffic implemented in Paris and Lyon.

At least doubled travel times

From dawn, many slowdowns were observed on the A7, in the Rhône valley, "from the south of Lyon to Orange". The journey time between the two cities has thus more than doubled compared to usual. Two relief routes have been put in place.

For this second weekend of crossover, the main difficulties were on the highways of the north-western quarter of the country (A2, A25, A11, A13) and of the southern half (A7, A8, A9, A10, A20 , A75).

Sunday improvement

The situation will improve on Sunday, a day classified as green at national level and orange in the South-West, the Rhône valley and the Mediterranean arc in the direction of the departures.

Bison Futé is also planning green in the direction of returns at national level, except for the Mediterranean arc and the Rhône valley, classified as orange.
