Have you started working in a new place? First of all, congratulations! But it is also important that you know that the job does not end here and that the behavior during the near future will have a great impact on the way you will be seen in the workplace, both the managers and the rest of the team. Do not forget: there is no second chance for a first impression.

So to get you started on the right foot, here are some tips from Manpower's team of experts on things not to do at the beginning of a new job:

Do not be late in the morning:

This may sound understandable to some of you, but there are many employees who still fall for this issue. At least in the beginning, be sure to arrive on time, even if it means checking in advance how to get there, by car or public transport (these days this is an even more complex issue). Managers and team members do not like being late, especially when you are new.

Do not show excess or insecurity:

There is a thin line here that needs to be walked on. On the one hand, do not say sentences like "do not do it like this" or "let me show you" - they are bad, especially in the beginning, because you are new and everywhere has its own course of action. On the other hand, do not look too vulnerable. In the end, do not forget that you have gone through the selection process and been recruited for the job, so the managers see you as those who are able to do it.

Do not look unprofessional:

Pay attention to where you have come from and adjust the look and attire. For example: In a law firm, do not come in a short shirt that reveals a tattoo on the arm.

Learn the organization:

Every organization has roles and internal politics. Get to know them quickly, so that the name of a senior in a conversation does not come up and you do not know who it is.

Concentrate on work:

The first days in a new place are always confusing and full of information, as part of the job overlap process, so it is important to stay focused. This is not the time for mental conversations on the phone or with other employees. Get busy at work and do not even talk about the next step in your career (even if you are already dreaming about it).

Be professional:

Do not get upset, do not raise your voice. Stay calm, even if something frustrating happened or you came across someone boiling with you

Do not reveal too much personal information:

You're at work, not at home with the guys. Think carefully about what you want to tell about yourself, especially to people you do not yet know. Remember you came to work, not to produce gossip and stories.

And of course, good luck!
