Beirut: Aoun, help with reconstruction arrive before winter

(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 09 - International aid for the reconstruction of Beirut must arrive "before winter, a season during which the suffering of citizens is likely to increase, especially those who no longer have a home". This was stated by Lebanese President Michel Aoun, quoted by the newspaper L'Orient le Jour, speaking at the international conference promoted by French President Emmanuel Macron.
    Aoun, who in recent days had rejected Macron's request for an international commission of inquiry into the gigantic explosion on 4 August, added that he had "pledged before the Lebanese people to do justice", stating that anyone found responsible will be judged under Lebanese law. (HANDLE).
