10,000 people tumbled onto private land on Saturday night. A squadron of mobile gendarmes must intervene this Sunday.

More than 10,000 people invaded a private agricultural land on Saturday evening to organize a rave party in the heart of the Cévennes National Park (Lozère), angering local farmers, we learned from the police.

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, demonstrations of more than 5,000 participants are banned in France until August 31.

Barbed wire cut

The ravers settled on a sheep grazing site in Hures-la-Parade, on the Causse Méjean, with around 4,000 vehicles, according to the mayor André Baret. The latter explains that they have cut the barbed wire on the ground, and that their presence will ruin the season of the farmer who owns it.

“I am very angry with the state. When I see the constraints that are imposed on farmers who can no longer even move a stone on the causse without being fined and these 15,000 people who do absolutely what they want on the causse without even wearing a mask, I tell myself that that must change ”, reacted Alain Pouget, regional manager of agricultural coordination.

According to a source familiar with the matter, a squadron of mobile gendarmes was preparing to intervene in the early afternoon on Sunday.

André Baret for his part asked the population to "stay at a distance and not intervene", as well as to properly close the houses and especially the barns. "We remember the previous edition (note: in 2000) We realize that there had been an upsurge in burglaries and in particular thefts of diesel".
