The Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday another 33 deaths from coronavirus respect to the last report, bringing the death toll in the country amounts to 4,556.
Alejandro Costa, Undersecretary of Health Strategies, was in charge of reporting the updated figures of the pandemic in the country. He indicated that the fatality rate is 1.9%, that there are 100 deaths per million inhabitants and that the average age of the fatal victims is 73 years.
According to the official, 241,811 people contracted the disease , of which 26.8% were due to close contact and 56.6% were due to community transmission, mainly in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, Chaco, Neuquén, Río Negro, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Jujuy, La Pampa, Córdoba, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego.
In total, 1,502 people are admitted to intensive care . Thus, the percentage of bed occupancy is 56.3% nationwide and 65.8% in the metropolitan area, the most affected area in the country.
The official added that 170,109 people have already been discharged, which represents 70.04% of the total infected.
On the other hand, Costa highlighted the increase in tests carried out throughout the country, with 845,220 in total and 17,493 during Saturday. With these figures, the country reached 18,626 tests per million inhabitants.
