Like many of the major summer festivals that were canceled due to the Corona epidemic, the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, which was supposed to take place in June, realized that a new route had to be calculated. The festival will take place on September 12-3 and it will be possible to experience the performances on the festival's website, while at the same time there will also be an international jazz festival in Jerusalem, created by the Israel Festival in collaboration with the Yellow Submarine and the Israel Museum.

In the days when the status of culture in Israel is at a low ebb, festival director Eyal Sher says: "It is not that there is no life without culture, culture is life. The Israel 2020 Festival is dedicated to all the artists who make our world better. Cultural action is our protest. "

• Another cultural protest: "The artists are held captive by the government"

This year the festival focuses on local Israeli art while dealing with issues of community, family, encounter, empathy, individualism and technology, age, democracy, acceptance of the other and more.

"The corona flattens our ego and the world and whispers in our ears to start thinking differently: to put the 'other' under our light. In the materials you will encounter at the festival lies a search and desire for art that seeks to move from its familiar surroundings, and offer the public to be an active partner and creator," 'And me.

Festival management members are aware of the explosive situation, and the fact that it is difficult to plan days ahead, so if by the time of the festival it will be possible to hold the shows with a wider audience, the festival will take place according to the purple character guidelines. To be on the safe side, the artistic program will be filmed and broadcast on the festival website. The performances will take place in the Jerusalem theater halls, at the Eden Tamir Music Center in Ein Kerem, and at the new Performing Arts Center in Talpiot, the new home of the interdisciplinary arena.

The Jerusalem International Jazz Festival, under the artistic direction of trumpet player Avishai Cohen and in collaboration with the Yellow Submarine and the Israel Museum, will take place on dates overlapping those of the Israel Festival on September 10-8 in the Israel Museum's Sculpture Garden and Galleries.

•  Artists' protest: "Why weddings yes and performances no?"

• Cultural world protest: "Fund the government - give what we deserve"

• The actors protest: " Let the state wake up"

And what's in the plan? Here are some of the intriguing shows:

• Family (temporary name) - a joint event for the Israel Festival and the International Jazz Festival - a series of performances under the artistic direction of Tamir Muscat and Avishai Cohen, of music sessions in the open space of the Sculpture Garden and galleries of the Israel Museum. Dudu Tessa with the sisters Al-Kuwaiti, Mark and Peretz Eliyahu with the Meiner family (Atar and Hed Meiner with Rif Cohen), Jasmine and Lila Mualem with Sefi and Onegi Zizlin, Noga Erez and Uri Russo in an acoustic eight show, Neta Barzilai with her brothers and more.

• A new performance by choreographer Jasmine Goder, exploring the possibility of extracting human qualities like compassion and sensitivity from the dance act.

• "Blue" by choreographer Galit Liss, who deals with the physiological aesthetics of the older body, with an ensemble consisting of 14 dancing women aged 80-65.

• The "Dreamers" by the multidisciplinary artist Nadav Barnea, which combines audio, lighting and scenery, in which the audience dives into a multidimensional world of living objects.

• The creator of Lilach Dekel-Avnery together with the Pathos-Mathos group will present "The Eichmann Project - Terminal - 1", a re-examination of the Eichmann trial in a journey that combines sound, movement, light and projection.

• Siday Sounds: Side A / Side B, Time Palace Orchestras and the Lab conducted by Matan Daskel and Steven Hornstein in a multi-disciplinary tribute concert dedicated to Eric Siday, the pioneer of electronic music.
