Several sitcoms from the 80s and 90s are again a topic of conversation: After the planned "Friends" reunion, the next series is now to be continued.

  • The sitcom Who's the Boss?” Started in the 1980s and ended after eight seasons in 1992.
  • The main characters are Tony Danza (Tony) and Alyssa Milano (Sam) .
  • After more than 25 years, the series is now set to receive a sequel - with a special surprise.

"Full House" , "The Prince of Bel-Air" , "A Terribly Nice Family" and many other sitcoms made sure that the television evening was saved every day in the 90s. Modern series of this kind are still regularly on TV - such as "The Big Bang Theory" * or "Two and a Half Men" - but many still miss the special charm of the 80s and 90s productions.

In order to bring this back to mind, the makers of “Friends” decided to produce a special with the six main actors. A similar decision was made with regard to “Who's the boss here?” : The series should even get a sequel.

“Who's the boss here?”: That's what the cult sitcom from the 90s is about

Between 1984 and 1992, the sitcom "Who's the boss here?" Was broadcast on the American broadcaster AMC. On German TV, however, the series with Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano in the leading roles did not run on RTL until December 1992 . It was one of the many sitcoms that were a common part of TV evenings for countless people in the 1990s.

That's what “Who's the Boss” is about : Former baseball player Tony (Danza) moves with his daughter Sam (Milano) to a small town to take up a new job as housekeeper. He works for the single mother Angela (Judith Light), with whom he keeps discussing who is actually the boss in the house. Despite the disputes, however, an inseparable friendship soon developed.

"Who's the boss here?" Is to get a sequel - with a special surprise

Sony is now planning to produce a sequel to “Who's the Boss?” Which will kick off 30 years after the events of the 80s sitcom and focus specifically on the current father-daughter relationship between Tony and Sam. According to Deadline magazine, the latter will live as a single mother in the house in which most of the previous story took place in the upcoming series.

The roles of Tony and Sam will not be re-cast, by the way: Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano have already announced that they want to be on board. The actors Judith Light (Angela) and Danny Pintauro (Jonathan) are also enthusiastic about the idea - the audience will very likely see their characters again. Katherine Helmond (Mona) , however, died in 2019. (soa) * tz.de is part of the Ippen central network.
