According to the Directorate General of Health, 191 people infected with the coronavirus were admitted to hospital within 24 hours.

Now is not the time for improvement on the Covid-19 front. The situation is even tending to deteriorate, as indicated by the data communicated by the Directorate General of Health on Tuesday evening. While Prime Minister Jean Castex again launched a call on Tuesday to “be lucid”, or even to “pull yourself together”, 1,397 new cases of coronavirus have been counted in the last 24 hours, against 1,039 last Tuesday.

Since Monday, 28 new epidemic foci have been identified, bringing their number to 879 since May 9. 560 of them were however "closed", specifies the DGS.

The rise in hospitalized patients continues

In 24 hours, 14 new deaths were also recorded. Since the start of the epidemic, 19,859 people have died in a hospital setting, or 15 more in a day. This difference is explained by the fact that a death was counted by mistake among those which occurred in social and medico-social establishments, such as nursing homes. A total of 10,505 people lost their lives there.

On the rise on Monday, the number of hospitalized patients is once again on the decline. According to the DGS indicates, 5,012 people are currently hospitalized after being infected with SARS-CoV-2 (-33 compared to Monday) and 191 new patients were admitted in 24 hours. Among the patients treated, 391 (-5 since Monday) are in the intensive care units. 21 people have been admitted to these services dedicated to the most serious cases in the last 24 hours.
