(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 12 - The Belarusian Ministry of the Interior said that the police used firearms against a group of people protesting in Brest, in the south-west of the country, and that one of the demonstrators was injured. The Interfax agency reported it. According to the ministry, the agents fired to defend themselves after being "attacked by a group of aggressive citizens holding metal bars". The Belarusian police are accused of using violence to try to suppress the protests of recent days.
