A few days ago the Consortium for the Protection of Culurgionis d'Ogliastra PGI was established in Tortolì (Nuoro). Almost 4 years after obtaining the prestigious recognition, which places the finest of Ogliastra dishes, in the Olympus of world excellence, some manufacturing companies have given life to a new phase in the protection, promotion and enhancement of the well-known local specialty.

The founding members are: the Fresh Pasta Laboratory of Richard Marci di Cardedu, Cospat soc.coop of Ilbono, Italagourmet srls of Tertenia, Pastificio Sapori di Sardegna by Tiziana Loi of Loceri, Muceli & Lotto snc of Jerzu, I Sapori d'Ogliastra of Vito Arra of Lanusei. The companies, which altogether represent about fifty employees, produced, in 2019, over 254,000 kilograms of product marked with the well-known Protected Geographical Indication logo.

"In any case, this is a starting point and not an arrival point: we aim to significantly increase the number of members and the quantities produced - says the new president of the Consortium Vito Arra - We take this opportunity to make it known: they can be part of of the new structure, in fact, all the producers and even the mere packers who are based in the production area and who register in the control system. We intend to promote the participation of pasta factories, packaging structures, restaurants, agritourism companies or accommodation facilities that they have the requisites and we are available to provide all the necessary information to the interested parties ".

"The Consortium is based in the premises of the Cna dell'Ogliastra, in the Baccasara industrial area in Tortolì, an association that has made an extraordinary contribution both in the process of acquiring the PGI and in the process of establishing the Consortium - explains Arra - We marked a path, but now a work that is even more onerous and arduous awaits us: protecting the finest Ogliastra product from poor quality imitations and usurpations. Not only that, we aim to promote this extraordinary dish and with it, to spread the name of 'Ogliastra and Sardinia, in Italy and in the world ".
