(ANSA) - NEW YORK, AUG 12 - Sumner Redstone, the multimedia tycoon who transformed a family drive-in chain into an empire that ranged from CBS to Viacom, has died at the age of 97.
"Patience is a virtue that I do not respect," said the billionaire who four years ago was ousted from the leadership of the group in light of his precarious state of both physical and mental health.
In recent years, Redstone, whose personal fortune last November was still estimated at $ 3.9 billion, had been at the center of a long family dispute that had pitted his son Brent against his daughter Sheri and also involved his last lover Manuela Herzer, envious of having been excluded from the will.
After being separated 14 years ago by Redstone, CBS and Viacom were married for the third time last August.
