Three people died as a result of the landslide that broke off in the late afternoon in Chiareggio , in Valtellina. Areu communicates this by specifying that they were the occupants of a car hit by the mass of debris and swooped into the stream.
The deceased people - according to what communicated by Areu - are a woman, a man and a girl, while in the same car there was another child, 5 years old, brought in red code by helicopter to Pope John XXIII.
Other people involved only marginally have moved away, while it is not yet known - they still say from Areu - if there are other people under the landslide.
The avalanche of debris swooped downstream at the entrance to the town of Chiareggio, a tourist resort at a height of Chiesa in Valmalenco (Sondrio), dragging the car into the underlying stream. In the area, shortly before, a violent storm had hit. On site the fire brigade, but also volunteers from Chiesa in Valmalenco and the barracks in Tresivio (Sondrio).
