" On August 12, 76 years ago, the hamlets of Stazzema became the scene of the most inhuman outrage : the massacre of hundreds and hundreds of unarmed civilians. It was one of the most heinous massacres committed in our country during the Nazi occupation due to the frightening numbers of the massacre, for the cruelty with which the SS men attacked lifeless bodies, for the destruction of the stake in the square of Sant'Anna ". This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella , on the anniversary of the massacre, inviting us to "not ignore the outbursts of intolerance, racial hatred, fanaticism that also manifest themselves in our societies and in the world".
