Kassel - Edeka  Südwest is recalling its liver sausage with veal of the own brand “Our house brand”. Due to a  production  error, some of the liver sausages should not have been cooked through. As a result, the sausage can spoil prematurely, according to the recall of the consumer portal produktwarnung.eu. There is even a health risk for consumers . The affected sausage was also sold in supermarkets in Hessen .

Liverwurst lovers should now pay close attention to what is on their table. Because the Edeka Südwest Fleisch GmbH informed about the recall of the article "Liver sausage with veal".

As the company announced in a recall dated July 6th, 2020, it was found that some of the liver sausages are not cooked through, which means that premature spoilage is possible. As part of the Edeka complaint management, the sausage affected by the current recall was noticed.

According to the manufacturer, this is due to a production error. Consumers are therefore advised not to consume the sausage affected by the recall , but to return it to an Edeka store.

The product was sold over the service counter in Edeka stores. Liver sausages with a different best-before date are excluded from the recall, according to the manufacturer. According to the consumer portal Lebensmittelwarnung.de, the sausage affected by the recall has been sold in the following federal states:

• Baden-Württemberg
• Bavaria
• Hesse
• Rhineland-Palatinate
• Saarland

Callback to Edeka: Sausage can spoil quickly

The veal liver sausage affected by the recall from Edeka's own brand “Our house brand” could spoil more quickly because, according to the manufacturer, some of the sausage was not cooked through. There is therefore even a health risk for consumers .

When eating spoiled food, it can lead to  food poisoning come. Typical symptoms of this disease are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Food poisoning can be severe and the affected people even have to be treated in hospital.

Customers can return the sausage they have already purchased with the best before date 07/15/2020 and the batch number 20162 in the relevant  Edeka grocery store. According to the manufacturer, this is also possible without presenting the receipt. The purchase price will be refunded.
