Another shortening of the isolation period for corona patients: A new directive issued by the head of public health services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, states that the duration of isolation for patients with or without symptoms will be counted from the coronation sample and not from the positive result (as defined so far).

The guideline is expected to shorten the duration of isolation by one to three days, especially for asymptomatic patients who can be defined as recovering ten days from the day they were examined.

A patient with symptoms whose onset of symptoms is known will be defined as recovering ten days from the onset of corona symptoms plus three days without fever or respiratory symptoms - a minimum of at least 13 days from the onset of symptoms. In cases where it is not known when the symptoms started, the recovery time will be set at ten days from the date of taking the sample provided that three days have elapsed from the end of the onset of symptoms.

"Based on the latest scientific knowledge regarding COVID 19, the risk of contracting a patient after nine days from the onset of symptoms is low. Subsequently, international organizations have updated their recommendations for the isolation of a verified case," notes Dr. Elrai.

The initiative for the change came from the health funds, where they contacted the Ministry of Health and offered to shorten the sick days, among other things because a person being tested stays in isolation from the moment the sample is taken. Also, the positive result he gets, even if late, relates to the moment of the test itself.
