The pictures of the protests after the death of George Floyd went around the world. Many have taken a stand against the "Black Lives Matter" movement and against racism. So obviously Dolly Parton too. Even if the country singer did not take part in the demonstrations, she said she signaled her support. She said that to the US magazine "Billboard".

She understands that people have the feeling that they have to be heard and stand behind "Black Lives Matter". "And of course black lives play a role. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that count? No!" Said Parton.

Renamed "Dixie Stampede" dinner attraction

She herself acted before the protests and renamed an attraction in her amusement park in the USA. In 2018 she changed the name of the dinner attraction "Dixie Stampede" after she realized that the term "Dixie" is associated with the Confederation.

"There is such a thing as innocent ignorance - and many have that," Parton told Billboard. "When they said 'Dixie' was an offensive word, I thought, 'Well, I don't want to offend anyone. This is a business. We just call it' The Stampede '." As soon as you realize that something is a problem, it should be solved, says Parton. "I would never dream of deliberately hurting anyone."

Because of the term "Dixie", the band Dixie Chicks changed their name to The Chicks.
