Coronavirus in Argentina: 187 deaths and 8,225 new positive cases reported

The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported 187 new deaths and another 8,225 positive cases of coronavirus in the country. In addition to being a record of daily infections , it is the first time that the barrier of 8,000 positives has been exceeded in one day.

Since the arrival of the virus, at the beginning of last March, 320,884 infected have already been counted throughout the national territory. 

In its morning report, the health portfolio had announced the death of 76 people (47 men and 29 women), of which 46 resided in the province of Buenos Aires, 16 in the City of Buenos Aires, three in Río Negro, three in Santa Cruz, two in Chaco, two in Mendoza, one in Jujuy, Neuquén, Tierra del Fuego and Tucumán.

The evening report then added another 111 deaths : 76 men (42 from Province, 12 from City, eight from Jujuy, four from Córdoba, three from Santa Cruz, two from Mendoza, two from Salta, one from Chubut, one from Río Negro and one from Santa Fe); and 35 women (16 from PBA, eight from CABA, six from Jujuy, two from Río Negro, one from Córdoba and one from Santa Fe).

Thus, the country reached 6,517 deaths, with a mortality rate of 139 people per million inhabitants and a fatality rate of 2% on confirmed cases. The average age of the fatal victims is 72.6 years.

According to official information, on Wednesday 18,013 new samples were taken and since the beginning of the outbreak 1,030,992 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out, which is equivalent to 22,720.7 samples per million inhabitants.

The Ministry of Health warned that there is " tension " in the health system of Jujuy, La Rioja and in the city of General Roca, in Río Negro.

These three jurisdictions are among those that have reported high rates of positivity - which is measured taking into account the number of infected on tests performed - in recent days, a group that also makes up the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA), Entre Ríos , Mendoza, Salta, Santa Fe and Córdoba, province that denied the national data.
