The calendar of the 2020-21 ski world cup changes due to Covid. The FIS has in fact removed the historic stages in America and Canada: the trials of Lake Louise, Killington and Beaver Creek have been canceled and will be recovered in Europe, in Val d'Isère, St. Moritz and Courchevel. The announcement of the international federation follows a few hours after the communication relating to the closed doors of the Soelden competitions on 17 and 18 October next.
The men's and women's fast races of Lake Louise leave the scene (downhill and super-G for men and 2 downhill and super-G for women); the women's slalom and giant of Killington; the downhill, the super-G and the male giant of Beaver Creek. 10 races in all: 5 men and 5 women. However, the canceled races in the American tour will be recovered by linking them to existing competitions in European locations during the season. The final decision on the calendars will be taken at the end of September, but, in the meantime, Fis has established the new calendars that provide for: that an additional weekend be held in Val d'Isère with two male giants (5 and 6 December), with the recovery of the canceled giant in Beaver. While on the following weekend (12 and 13 December) the men's fast races to recover (downhill and super-G) will be held.
In the women's field, a descent will be added to the traditional Swiss weekend in St. Moritz (5 and 6 December), while Courchevel will host a weekend with two technical races on 12 and 13 December.
Rigid protocol to be able to safely guarantee the conduct of the competitions: athletes will have an immunity passport, which will be created by adding serological tests to the normal doping controls. All other subjects wishing to participate in sporting events must carry out a mandatory swab within 72 hours prior to the races.
