They confirm another 99 deaths from coronavirus and there are already 6,947 fatalities in Argentina

The Ministry of Health confirmed on Sunday another 99 deaths from coronavirus respect to the last report, bringing the death toll in the country amounts to 6,947.

Alejandro Costa, Undersecretary of Health Strategies, was in charge of reporting the updated figures of the pandemic in the country. He indicated that the fatality rate is 2%, that there are 151 deaths per million inhabitants and that the average age of the fatal victims is 72.5 years.

According to the official, 336,802 people contracted the disease , the vast majority by community transmission, mainly in the metropolitan area of ​​Buenos Aires, Chaco, Neuquén, Río Negro, Mendoza, Santa Fe, Jujuy, La Pampa, Córdoba, Santa Cruz and Tierra of fire.

In total, 1,907 people are admitted to intensive care . Thus, the percentage of bed occupancy is 58% nationwide and 67.1% in the metropolitan area, the most affected area in the country. 

The official added that 251,400 people have already been discharged, of which 5,619 recovered on Saturday. 

On the other hand, Costa highlighted the increase in tests carried out throughout the country, with 1,092,556 in total and 18,837 during Saturday. With these figures, the country reached 24,077 tests per million inhabitants.
