Mowing the lawn, washing the car or giving tutoring: There are many ways to earn money on the side. But where do I get the most money for my work? The editorial team presents you with eleven mini-jobs that you can do really well.

1. Bicycle courier

Do sports and whiz through the city at lightning speed: As a bicycle courier, you can transport gifts, food or even blood samples from A to B at lightning speed. The advantages: You get to know your home town like the back of your hand and, if you're lucky, get a hefty tip from the addressee of the goods.

2. Babysitter

Cooking food, having fun with the children and doing homework with them: the job of babysitting is not always easy - but it is lucrative. In addition, babysitters are desperately wanted - you will find numerous requests on online job boards.

Salary : Some parents pay a lot for good childcare. Babysitters can therefore expect an hourly wage of around 10 to 15 euros . In principle, however, the payment of babysitters is a matter of negotiation.

The best thing about it: babysitters are often available in the evenings or on weekends - and that can be perfectly combined with actual work or studies.

3. Waiter

A part-time job that most people think of first is working as a part-time assistant in the catering industry. Whether in the restaurant or in the café - many students also work in the service area.

The reason for this: While the hourly wage fluctuates greatly from company to company, waiters, on the other hand, are sometimes allowed to keep all of the tip they receive.

Salary : In one evening, if things go well, up to 70 euros can be won . But this requires you to be able to deal with annoying guests, stress and noise.

4. Bartender

Cool, popular and partying: this is how many people imagine the bartender. You can watch them delightedly as they confidently mix their favorite cocktail. But this requires a lot of practice that has to be learned first.

In addition, loud disco music, drunken party guests and a lot of rush at the bar are just a few obstacles that bartenders have to overcome on weekend nights. But those who drink a lot of course also spend more. Finally, it is common practice in clubs to tip.

Salary : The hourly wage here is only eight to 15 euros . But some bartenders who are particularly friendly or charming to their guests receive an additional  ten percent share as a tip .

Depending on the company, it can happen that the tips are withheld by the boss for the team of employees and are distributed and paid out to all employees at the end of the month.

5. Animator

A vacation job for all extroverts: If you don't have that much time, you can also work as an animator for tour operators such as TUI or Ruf. You travel to vacation spots, live and eat in the hotel, meet lots of new people and get money for it.

But the job as an entertainer is not always so fun: after all, it can be exhausting to get hotel guests to play water polo or sing karaoke in the evening. In addition , as the entertainer, you always have to be in a good mood and provide entertainment in the evening with a show program.

8. Room rental

Do you have a free room in your apartment? If so, they could rent it out. 10. YouTuber

They are always in a good mood, talk about their exciting everyday life or give tips: For many - especially the younger generation - Youtubers are almost like idols. 11. Newspaper deliverer

Receiving, sorting and delivering newspapers: These are the main tasks a newspaper delivery person has to do. But also delivering brochures or magazines is a lucrative sideline. The job can be carried out as a temporary worker or as a regular delivery person. You can often find offers in regional daily newspapers.

This is how it works: Each delivery driver receives a route in his place of residence and the addresses that he delivers daily (or weekly) from the employer.

Requirements are: punctuality, discipline, a certain athletic stamina and, in particular, the willingness to get up in the early morning hours and deliver the newspapers regardless of wind and weather. Good local knowledge is helpful. A small trolley or trolley, which is usually provided automatically by the publisher free of charge, can help transport the magazines from A to B.
