Coronavirus in Argentina: the three curves and why 70 percent of today's deaths are from Buenos Aires

In the province, 274 of the 382 deaths of the day were registered. One cause is administrative. The other is the number of cases that occurred in August. The fatality rate in the country grows.

The record of coronavirus deaths in Argentina for a single report arrived on August 24 with a figure of 382 victims throughout the country . The most striking thing, in addition to that total never recorded before, is that 7 out of every ten deaths are from the province of Buenos Aires: in total, 274 . The City had 52 and the rest corresponds to other provinces.

Sources from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health consulted by Clarín still could not give an explanation this Monday night about the triggering of the registry. One of the suspicions is that there is a recovery of data from victims that were not reported during the weekend.

This is a situation that has been happening with reports from different provinces, due to delayed data uploads . Something that, for example, does not occur with the City's data, according to sources from the Fernán Quirós ministry.

But that is only part of the explanation. And the least worrisome. The bulky figure draws attention beyond that administrative issue. The cause is linked to a logic that exceeds the GBA : the three curves of the pandemic. Now the province is seeing the consequences of the shooting of cases in recent weeks.

When reviewing the figures for the last few days, since the beginning of this month, it can be seen that on Monday, August 3, the province of Buenos Aires had reported only 3,158 cases of Covid , while the City had 1,051. On August 4, it already counted 4,337 cases against 1,337 Buenos Aires cases. On August 5, the Province climbed to 4,676 and the City reached 1,467. And on August 6, the Buenos Aires population reached 4,987 while in the City the figure remained stable. On August 7, the Province reached 5,200 cases.

It is estimated that seriously ill people with coronavirus can spend about three weeks in intensive care. It is the time in which the Buenos Aires data began to take a leap that brings them closer to this present record of 5,656 cases in one day and 274 deaths . In the City, on the other hand, the curve remained stable. Today's Buenos Aires death figures are the product of the decantation of this increase.

What are the three curves of the pandemic? That of cases, that of internees and that of deaths. One follows the other constantly. That is why what is seen today is the inevitable consequence of the increase in infections that began to register since the beginning of August.

Of the total cases of coronavirus, 80 percent are mild, 20 percent require hospitalization and 5 percent, intensive therapy . It is estimated that 3 percent will require a respirator. The death rate in Argentina continues to be relatively low, but it has been rising. Today it is 2.09 percent , when at the beginning of August it was 1.84 percent.

In this period of time, it is also seen that the intensive care beds in the metropolitan area had a peak of occupation and then the demand fell: a number of the internees recovered and another part died. This Monday, the occupancy of ICU beds in the AMBA is 64.5 percent. On Thursday of last week it had reached the maximum mark, with 68.7 percent.
