Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The financial supervisory authority Bafin warns consumers again of fraudulent emails. The authority became aware of several cases in which fake emails with the name of Vice President Elisabeth Roegele were sent with false requests for payment, said the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin).

"The Bafin points out that the authority does not ask people by phone or email to transfer large sums of money to certain accounts," the authority emphasized. The Federal Agency "does not turn to individual people to advise them with regard to specific banking, financial services or insurance transactions". Anyone who receives a fake email should contact the police.

In mid-July, the Bafin had warned against calls in which fraudsters pretended to be Bafin President Felix Hufeld and demanded the transfer of money. In addition, fake e-mails with the name of Bafin press spokeswoman Sabine Reimer appeared at the time. The Federal Agency oversees banks and insurers, among others.
