John David Washington: "I hope Tenet brings people together"

At 36, John David Washington can be proud of having toured with two heavyweights of the 7th art. He was first the hero of BlacK-kKlansman, the excellent film by Spike Lee, grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. Today, he plays a master spy in Christopher Nolan Tenet's new film . However, the son of Denzel Washington, who for a time considered a footballing career, does not raise the collar. He responds to questions asked with a form of shyness that commands respect. Behind this humility, however, hides a power of conviction, charisma, which make it a great future in cinema.

LE FIGARO. - Do you remember your first meeting with Christopher Nolan?

John David WASHINGTON. - Of course! I remember I was shaking like a leaf when I walked through his gate. I was not leading off because I was late. I thought it was over. I even thought that I had missed everything, that my career was going to end there… (Laughs.)
