There are different details about the exact number of injured: The AFP news agency reports from 16 children, citing a city spokeswoman, the dpa from at least 14 people, citing the rescue control center of the Märkischer Kreis.
13 students came to a hospital as a precaution, according to the AFP. One of those affected suffered at least five stings. According to the comprehensive school, the pupils were attacked by the wasps during a break.
It is unclear why the attacks came about. After the first reports, the authorities had triggered a major operation and sent several ambulances to the scene.
According to the city spokeswoman, the students were sent home according to age group. The schoolyards remained closed until the exterminator was deployed. According to the city, the exterminator made a wasp's nest in the schoolyard area that is to be removed.
