After the Federal Oral Court 7 ordered a series of obligations to the singer Gustavo Cordera for his statements against women, and after the sending and rejection of a first video apologizing, this Thursday the Justice concluded the probation .
According to the Court, the defendant "modified his gestures, tone and cadence of voice" by assuming his apologies for the statements made.
In the video he shared on his Facebook page, he is seen reading a speech that was written prior to the recording.
" The offense committed is not justified at all, but it is explained by my belonging in my generation to educate oneself and to run the candle that prevented them from seeing," Cordera read in his speech.
Then he clarified in the almost three-minute release: "I am one of those who has become aware of the need to change the way of saying to clearly mark that the way of thinking has changed and above all to value certain harmful, offensive and dangerous expressions and that this evolution in my case is precisely a growth figure that I am grateful for and by virtue of which I am committed to setting the path that others need to see ".
As required by TOF 7, the singer expressed his apology: " I apologize to those who have offended and hurt , especially teenagers who have suffered sexual violence both in the field of rock and in others."
" I regret my sayings and I retract , and I promise to reflect on these events so as not to repeat them and to contribute to achieving a more egalitarian society," Cordera closed.
The phrase outlined by Cordera in August 2016 in the framework of a press conference of a journalism school was: "There are women who need, because they are hysterical, to be raped, because psychologically they need it and because they are guilty and do not want to have sex freely. They want to play that. I don't like to play that, but there are people who do. Human beings are very complex. "
In that same interview, he considered "an aberration" that the law does not allow having sex with adolescents who "want" to have relationships with an adult. "If I have something good to give you, I can deflower you like no one in the world," he said.
When the statements were released to the press, Chamber I of the Federal Chamber confirmed Cordera's prosecution for the crime of incitement to violence, following a complaint from INADI.
In April 2019, the trial against him was suspended. The Oral Court in Correctional 7 of the City of Buenos Aires decided to grant him the suspension of the trial by accepting his proposal to carry out a probation, which would consist of two free shows (postponed due to the pandemic), attend a gender workshop and hold a video for broadcast on social networks and media.
As a student, Cordera attended a "Conversations Workshop on Gender and Culture" which is part of the "Probation Workshops within the framework of Restorative Justice" program, dictated by the City's Secretary of Justice and Human Rights.
