(ANSA) - BRAZIL, AUGUST 27 - Brazil, the most populous country in Latin America, has 211,755,692 inhabitants, a population that has increased by 0.77% compared to 2019. This is what was reported today in the Official Journal of the Union, which reports the updated data on the population in the 27 states and 5,570 cities according to the survey conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Ecstatic Geography (Ibge).
The state of Sao Paulo concentrates 21.9% of the national population with 46.28 million inhabitants, followed by Minas Geraiscon 21.29 million and Rio de Janeiro with 17.36 million.
These three states are located in the south-eastern region of the country, while in the north of the country, in the Amazon region, there are the lowest demographic indices: the northern states of Roraima, Acre, Rondonia, Tocantis and Amapá record, together, 5.7 million inhabitants. .
Based on this data, these five Amazonian states concentrate less than half the population of the city of SanPaolo, the most populous metropolis in Brazil, where 12.3 million people reside.
