Most people know Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister in "Home Alone". The actor was just ten years old when the film hit US cinemas in 1990. The family comedy became a classic and keeps showing up on television.

And for one or the other, it is certainly not that easy to bring the boy from the film together with the grown man who celebrated a milestone birthday on Wednesday.

Culkin is apparently also aware of this: "Hey guys, do you want to feel old? I'm 40," he wrote on Twitter. "This is my gift to the world: I make people feel old. I am no longer a child, this is my job."

Well, at 40, it's time to "start my midlife crisis," joked Culkin. He is considering going surfing in the future. As an aid to decision-making, he urged his fans to mount his head on a surfer via Photoshop to "get an idea of how cool I would look".

His partner, actress Brenda Song, also spoke up on the occasion of Culkin's birthday. She published a photo on Instagram. This shows the couple in a partner look. Both wear red and black checked shirts with their names on their backs.

She could write endlessly about how wonderful he is and how grateful she is: "First, it would take me forever and second, you wouldn't even see it because you never use Instagram," the 32-year-old joked to Culkin.

Culkin was one of the most famous child actors of the early 1990s. After "Kevin - Alone at Home" he took over the lead role again in 1992 in "Kevin - Alone in New York".

He was unable to build on these early successes and took a break from acting in the mid-1990s. With relationship problems and drug rumors repeatedly made negative headlines. In 2005 he was convicted of drug possession by a US court.

From 2013 to 2018 he was active as a musician in the comedy rock band "The Pizza Underground". Most recently he starred in the film "Changeland".
