(ANSA) - CAGLIARI, AUGUST 29 - The Regional Investigative Unit of the Forestry Corps has been engaged since this morning in a large operation aimed at fighting the fires that have been bringing Sardinia to its knees since the beginning of the summer. Dozens of searches were carried out in the areas of Pula, Sarroch and Villa San Pietro. Thirteen people under investigation, some of them arrested. From what we learn, even if there is no official confirmation, they are involved in the fire fighting operations themselves. During the first searches, parts of incendiary devices, weapons, ammunition and recently hunted game were found.
The investigative activity started following the numerous fires that broke out in recent weeks in the Cagliari area.
The activity, coordinated by the prosecutor Alessandro Pili, is still ongoing. (HANDLE).
