I had just entered my teens when I had my first contact with football. It wasn't because he had a ball at his feet. I was in the dining room of my house making a flag of more than three meters to put on the roof of the car with which my brother would travel to Córdoba to see Independiente.

The activity had never felt like the mandate that women are the ones who sew. Absolutely. I knew I was a girl and they still wouldn't let me travel to go see the club that little by little was getting into my gut. The one from which I had a vinyl record and from which I learned the songs and their hymn and then sing it wherever I am.

A little earlier I had wanted to win the scholarship that the CAI gave annually to the students of the public schools of Avellaneda and that allowed me to do some sport within the institution, and logically go to the field. I had to wait a while longer to get into the double visor, and of course, it was from my brother's hand. She was already a cadet member. We did not go alone, there were my cousins and my cousins. Friends from the neighborhood. All together, the girls and the boys.

Liliana Caruso does not miss a single match for her club, Independiente.

Going to the field on Sundays was not just any activity. There was and still exists today -except there is a clear pandemic-, a whole ritual : what to have an early lunch, what to cut the papers, what to see if we wear a shirt or a hat determined by cabal, who puts the car, who we go looking First. And if the trip is outside the scope of the Capital or Province, who is in charge of the tickets during the week, if we spend the whole day in that town and are going to eat on the river bank before the game, or at what time do we have to be? to get there and find a good place because we go to the field that has columns in the middle of the popular.

An entire engineering where family and friends are involved. And where to watch football is a whole family and social plan. To such an extent, that if there are birthdays, weddings or a celebration, it is calculated - since there is no visiting public - that it is not when Independiente plays home. How can you not come to dance with us today? listened many times. But everyone already knew my answer. "Faithful and unique love that never changes, never fails."

Is it how many say that the love of this sport has to do in many countries with a geographical issue? Of course, I was born in a neighborhood where there are several sports, social and educational clubs and also in the city that was the cradle of women's refereeing . In my opinion, it is not necessary to delve too much.

Even knowing that the commonplace indicated a long time ago that soccer was a man's thing, my life, others and others surround soccer. And for that there is no gender difference. These deeply ingrained cultural customs have been demolished with the passage of time. And there is no longer room for debate or searches for reason. Women have already broken the archaic mold, anaphthalene of believing that men are the ones who know the most about soccer.

Women today talk about soccer , we play soccer and we feel soccer.

But the task was not easy and in fact there are remnants of that game. If someone asks about a historical match of the Argentine team against England, surely everyone will remember Diego Armando Maradona and his magic. And welcome so be it, indisputable.

However, what you have to know is that previously our girls in women's football had been the ones who first managed to beat the English in a World Cup. It was in 1971 when 17 women traveled to Mexico without even boots, a trainer, doctors and masseurs. The feat of these footballers was to have beaten them 4 to 1 before more than 100,000 people gathered in the Aztec stadium. Gloria “Betty” Garcia, the captain of that group who played with arrows sneakers and with shirts donated by a union, was part of that glory. Why is it that it is still so difficult to recognize them?

Until a couple of years ago, the International Federation of Associated Football had counted 30 million women in the world who regularly practice football in federated areas. Today surely the figure is much more ...

Yet there are many who are still infatuated with recognizing that men play soccer and so do women. The inclusion of women has been clearly late , and with some honorable exceptions, even inequitable .

But football is not a logarithmic calculus or quantum physics. It is strategy, intelligence, skill, mischief, it is spectacle, health, physical and mental development, a channel of communication, of human relationship. We know that today it is business, it is marketing and how many times it has been the way to get girls, boys and families off the street . But the only thing that does not play here and in all this, is the genre.

To be able to speak and feel football, it is not necessary to go behind the ball , do dribbling, stop it from the chest being number 5 in the middle of the field or throw a header outside as a good center-back would do to avoid being scored a goal. Soccer can be experienced from the stands, from the plank, from the concrete or from an audience.

Soccer is also simply a passion. and when thousands of voices come together to shout there is no distinction whatsoever. They come out of the throats of men and women. Hugs are mixed even with strangers and with those who are next to you no matter what. Soccer unites, does not know age, sex, forms. They are demonic skins in any case that make people laugh and cry alike.

It is the sport that eludes the passage of time, makes a hat to the leaderboards, hangs from the crossbar to reason. It excites, irritates, makes you feel adrenaline. And that is why she does not know if you are a man or a woman. There is no gender to say , feel, and less, to live a passion.
